Fundraising for Canine Oncology Research at Massey University
I am hosting the fundraiser on Monday 30 June from 4.30-7.30pm at East Coast Bays Football Club and with your help it will feature a variety of donated products, vouchers or services which will be sold either at a set price, via silent auction, or as part of a raffle, with all proceeds going directly to canine oncology research and The Hemangiosarcoma Project.

My story
At the start of March 2024, my husband and I found a small lump on the neck of our 2 year old dog, Tāne. Within three weeks, Tāne was riddled with lumps and had undergone two rounds of chemotherapy. He sadly passed away on 28 March 2024 of T-cell lymphoma.
The thought of cancer in such a young dog had never crossed our minds—especially in a dog who, even to the vet, appeared to be so fit and healthy. Needless to say, it was an incredibly scary and traumatic time for us losing our furbaby so quickly.
You can check out a short video of Tāne here https://www.instagram.com/dogcancerresearchnz https://www.youtube.com/shorts/jczZz5ec6pc
It's heartbreaking to think about other dog owners having to go through what we went through, and because of this I have chosen to raise money for Canine Oncology Research at Massey University. My goal is to raise the $25,000 needed to get The Hemangiosarcoma Project off the ground.
Cancer remains one of the leading causes of death in dogs and this project has the potential to make a real difference in the early detection and treatment of hemangiosarcoma — one of the most aggressive and heartbreaking cancers affecting our canine companions.
How You Can Help
I’d love for you to come to this event and show your support. Chances are you either have, or know someone who has a dog that they love unconditionally. There will be raffles, a silent auction, and set price purchases – with all the money going directly to dog cancer research. The bar will be open to purchase drinks and snacks and we are asking for a gold coin donation at the door.If you know any other business that would be interested, I’m also seeking a variety of support in the form of:
Donated products, vouchers or services – big or small, that can be raffled, auctioned, or sold.
Donated products may be sold individually or smaller items combined with other similar items to create bundles (eg ‘Home & Garden’, ‘Food & Dining’, ‘Travel & Leisure’)
If you would also like to, or know someone who would be interested in making a financial donation, they can do this by going directly to Massey University and claim donation tax credits.

- Volunteering time or skills to support fundraising efforts.
How to donate products or vouchers?
Reply to this email to organise a time for me to pick up, or you can send/drop them to Barfoot & Thompson Browns Bay who are collecting donations on my behalf.
What will happen to your donations?
All money raised from selling the donated products will be donated directly to Massey University on 1 July 2025.
Your donation will go directly towards funding research aimed at finding a cure for dogs with cancer and by supporting this initiative, you’re not just funding research—you’re giving hope to dogs and the families who love them. Every donation, big or small, brings us one step closer to better outcomes and longer, healthier lives for our four-legged friends.
